🎧 Audio: I Love the Olympics. It's Complicated.

On athletic greatness, national guilt, and the complicated joy of sport

This is the audio version of the latest Wocket column β€” part experiment, part evolution. I’m starting to record some essays for those who prefer listening while commuting, walking, training, or avoiding eye contact with other humans in public spaces.

This one is about loving the Olympics while being deeply skeptical of nationalism. About cheering for athletes while side-eyeing the countries they represent. About the strange space where admiration, critique, pride, and discomfort all sit together on the couch.

If you’re new here:
The Wocket is basically amateur sport β€” lots of effort, no endorsement deals, and running on the support of people who believe in the goal.
